The 2024 Leipzig Veterinary Congress – Comprehensive Market Overview and Extensive Professional Development Programme

From infectious diseases in pigs and behavioural therapy in small animals to pharmaceutical and food law, the 12th Leipzig Veterinary Congress (18 to 20 January 2024) will once again provide high-calibre professional development opportunities for veterinarians, veterinary assistants, industry representatives and students. Numerous sessions will focus on feature topics that shed light on the latest advancements in research and development and examine specific questions from various perspectives. The conference programme will be complemented by the vetexpo trade fair which is open on all three days of the conference as it was in 2022. Visitors to this event, which is the largest of its kind for veterinary medicine in German-speaking countries, can therefore experience the full range of lectures and exhibits on all three days.

"What makes the Veterinary Congress so successful is its unique combination of a trade fair with a conference programme that covers all areas of veterinary medicine and leaves nothing to be desired in terms of the feature topics and the range of animal species addressed. Top-quality further education opportunities are available for all professional groups within the veterinary sector," explains Congress President Dr Uwe Truyen.

The 12th Leipzig Veterinary Congress will have sessions on every species of animal from bees to zoo animals including talks on dentistry in dogs and cats, animal welfare in equestrian sports, new vaccinations and vaccination strategies for commercial poultry and udder health in ruminants to poisoning in pets and livestock. New topics in 2024 are anatomy and practice management. In addition, numerous sessions will address veterinary public health topics and hold discussions on current policy developments that affect the profession. Furthermore, vets from all over the world specialising in the reproductive systems of horses are getting together once again in 2024 at the International Conference on Equine Reproductive Medicine (ICERM).

More Topical Than Ever: the Climate Crisis and Sustainability in Veterinary Medicine

An event focusing on the critical topic of "Climate Change and One Health: Veterinary Medicine in Transition” will kick off the 12th Leipzig Veterinary Congress. The three-hour session is packed with keynote speeches by speakers from various fields such as politics, research, media and practice, who will then go on to discuss the topic together.

The vetexpo Trade Fair: Three Days of Pure Variety

For three days, vetexpo will cater to an audience of veterinary professionals, offering an overview of products and services covering every area of a vet's daily work and providing vital inspiration for investment decisions. Over 280 exhibitors from Germany and abroad will be presenting their product innovations and services at the largest veterinary exhibition in German-speaking Europe and offering attendees an opportunity for personal dialogue. A wide range of medical technology, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, instruments and veterinary practice equipment will be at the heart of the trade fair alongside animal nutrition products and IT services.

Due to its tremendous popularity at past editions of the Leipzig Veterinary Congress, the CAREER CORNER job fair will once again be integrated into the expo to round off the event. In cooperation with Hardenberg Consulting GmbH, the CAREER CORNER will host prospective employers from throughout the field of veterinary medicine, connecting them with potential employees and paving the way for successful recruitment. At the last Leipzig Veterinary Congress, 36 companies took advantage of this opportunity to present their current job offers to young veterinarians and position themselves as attractive employers.

PARTNER PFERD will be held at the same time as the 12th Leipzig Veterinary Congress.
