
Redefining diagnostic imaging
The new Dual Energy system elevates the performance of the NewTom 7G VET to an entirely new level.
Dual energy tomography utilizes two distinct X-ray energy levels to acquire two image datasets of the same anatomical region. This approach enhances tissue contrast by allowing differentiation of tissue types based on their energy-dependent absorption characteristics.
A specially developed algorithm corrects motion-induced distortions, significantly reducing motion artifacts. The algorithm operates across all axes, compensating for translational shifts, rotations, and variations in detector distance.
Metal artifacts are also minimized, as the dual energy technology enables the reconstruction of a virtual monochromatic image by selecting the most appropriate energy level (keV). This ensures exceptional image quality even in the presence of implants, prostheses, or osteosynthesis materials.
The custom-designed NewTom Dual Energy software allows real-time selection of energy levels during image visualization. Reconstruction of data from both low and high energy scans is performed instantaneously, generating a weighted overlay of high- and low-energy acquisitions. These images combine the low noise characteristic of high-energy scans with the superior contrast resolution provided by the low-energy dataset.
